We have recently completed a report for a leading contractor developer looking at the opportunities presented by various local authority market reforms. Following on from previous work advising on local housing companies, ikon have been exploring the potential and opportunities specifically created by the Localism Act in terms of opportunities for local authorities to play a more direct role in development delivery. We have combined this with an in depth look at the potential impact and opportunities of Housing Revenue Account reforms in particular borrowing headroom and how London authorities are responding.
‘Our analysis really shows that there are significant opportunities for local authorities to play a more direct role in development including leading the process and managing risk. This work builds on roles we have already secured, working with councils who wish to lead developments and benefit from a buoyant London market, whilst at the same time delivering affordable homes’, explains Chris Cheeseman, ikon Director.
